Sorin: We have to take learn from the experience of 2002 (24 May 2006 15:41 GMT)
Argentina are determined to learn from their 2002 World Cup flop when they arrived as favourites and were knocked out in the first round, captain Juan Pablo Sorin said.
"Every World Cup is different but we have to take it slowly and learn from the experience of 2002 and correct things," Sorin told reporters. "I don't want to talk about winning the title in Germany, the first target is to get through the first round."
Sixteen of Argentina's 23-man squad played under coach Jose Pekerman during his long and successful spell as coach of Argentina's under-20 team.
Pekerman won World Youth championships in 1995, 1997 and 2001.
"A lot of us have been world champions at youth level," said Sorin. "We know what if feels like to be world champions and I hope we can repeat the campaigns of Qatar, Malaysia and Buenos Aires."
