Cruz: I'm staying at Inter (2 Aug 2006 17:33 GMT)
Inter striker Julio Cruz has dismissed the transfer speculation surrounding him by committing his future to the Nerazzurri.
"These stories are part of the game," stated the Argentine international. "They are just newspaper headlines."
Cruz, despite recently extending his contract at the San Siro, has been associated with the likes of Juventus and Roma.
Yet the former Feyenoord and Bologna hitman is ready to remain even if his club are after a new forward.
"Inter are a squad who have the need for real champions," added the South American. "We need great players to cope with the long season ahead of us."
The 32-year-old Cruz initially moved to Italy in August 2000 after he left Feyenord for the Stadio Dall'Ara. He remained with Bologna for three years before accepting an Internazionale switch in 2003 following the loss of Hernan Crespo to Chelsea.
