Former Argentina manager Jose Pekerman said he is still smarting from his country's earlier-than-expected trip home from the World Cup.
"The elimination still hurts," said Pekerman, who resigned abruptly after the ouster on penalties by host Germany in the quarterfinals.
In an online interview released Monday on FIFA's Web site, Pekerman refused to characterize the elimination as a defeat, insisting all things in the final match "were equal, but then we had to go because of the circumstance involving the penalties ... we were very close to achieving the goal when it just barely slipped away."
Pekerman, meanwhile, said he had no misgivings about his abrupt resignation, adding "I made the decision I had to."
He had no comment on possible coaching offers elsewhere.
