FC Porto have signed a 3.5 year contract with defender Lucas Mareque from Argentine club River Plate.
Mareque, 23, will join his compatriots Lucho Gonzalez and Lisandro Lopez at the club.
"This is the most important step in my career," Mareque said. "I am aware of the greatness of Porto and of their importance in the sporting world. They are a club who always play to win. I will give everything for the club and I hope everything goes well in order for the team to achieve success."
Porto top the standings with 37 points after 14 games, five ahead of second-placed Sporting.
