Villarreal have been linked with a move for Barcelona's out-of-favour striker Javier Saviola.
The Argentina international has failed to hold down a first-term berth at Barca this season despite the lack of strikers at the Camp Nou.
Saviola, who has spent the last two seasons on loan at Monaco and Sevilla, has failed to capitalise on the injury that has kept Samuel Eto'o out of action for most of the current campaign.
And Villarreal coach Manuel Pellegrini sees the 25-year-old forward as the ideal complement to his attacking trio of Diego Forlan, Guillermo Franco and Juan Roman Riquelme.
"The situation of Saviola not playing regular football is bad for the game because there is no doubt about his quality," said Pellegrini. "I don't know the sporting or personal reasons why he doesn't have a place at Barcelona, but he's a footballer of such quality that he would succeed wherever he goes."
