Inter eye Riquelme (26 Jan 2007 18:17 GMT)

Inter are considering a move for Villarreal?s Juan Roman Riquelme, who is reportedly keen on leaving the Spanish side this month.

The former Argentine international, who was already paired with the Nerazzurri last year as a replacement for Juan Sebastian Veron, is on bad terms with his current outfit.

He has been left out by Coach Manuel Pellegrini since December 17, as the Chilean tactician seems to favour the young Mexican Matias Fernandez, who only recently arrived at Villarreal.

The 28-year-old is valued at £7m and the Via Durini outfit might make an offer for the player, who could take the place of Luis Figo, set to join Arabian club Al-Ittihad in the summer.

Riquelme signed for Villarreal in 2003, finally expressing his talent after the disappointing spell at Barcelona and was an integral part of the Argentina side during the 2006 World Cup.
