Argentina will play friendly against Asutralia at the 95,000-capacity Melbourne Cricket Ground on June 6, Football Federation Australia said.
Football Federation Australia chief executive Ben Buckley said the Socceroos' recent performances had made it easier to attract more highly-ranked sides.
"I think the profile of the team has gone up enormously and I think the attitude of the team has demanded respect around the world," he said. "I think if you talk to coaches and officials, they were highly impressed by the performance at the World Cup."
The match will act as Australia's final warm-up before they play their Asian Cup group opener against Oman in Bangkok on July 8.
