Maradona gets permission to "escape" (4 May 2007 13:32 GMT)
Diego Armando Maradona has been granted special permission to be able to come as he pleases at the rehab clinic he's currently staying at.
Maradona has been interned since the 21st of April, although he's been exasperating the staff and his own personal physician Dr. Alfredo Cahe.
"He can come and go as he pleases, as long as it's therapeutic like going to see his daughters or dropping in on relatives of his current girlfriend", explained the resigned medic to rádio Del Plata.
The doctor revealed that he felt happier about giving the idol a free "get out of jail" pass as he's been a model patient in terms of following strict instructions on what he ingests.
"If Diego can carry on like he has been doing then in roughly ten days he'll be clinically and psychologically apt to be discharged?, explained Cahe.
Maradona has kept himself on the wagon, abstaining from alcohol and the Cuban cigars he craves so much, after coming close to suffering liver failure.
Can Diego keep walking along the straight and narrow and avoid following George Best into an early grave? Only time can tell...
