Record-breaker Zanetti delighted (18 Nov 2007 15:10 GMT)

Javier Zanetti won his 116th cap as Argentina beat Bolivia 3-0 on Saturday in a World Cup qualifier.

"It was a very special match for me because of this record," Zanetti said. "I'm truly proud of having worn the national shirt in so many games. I'm very happy."

Zanetti, who played at Talleres Remedios de Escalada and Banfield before starting his successful career at Inter in 1995, said that Sergio Aguero's 41st-minute opener was crucial in helping Argentina clinch victory.

"We knew Bolivia would not be easy rivals to overcome, as there are no small teams nowadays. However, when we netted the first goal, we proved our worth. Bolivia were well ordered in the first half, but our goal made things easier. Argentina played better in the second half and we won deservedly."

Argentina maintained their perfect record after three matches, and now face Colombia on Tuesday in the fourth round of World Cup qualifiers.
