Aguero buy-out clause increased (29 Dec 2007 09:47 GMT)
Atletico Madrid have moved to safeguard the services of Argentine striker Sergio Aguero by increasing the cost to buy him out of his contract from 36 to 55 million euros ($80.91 million), the Primera Liga club said.
The 19-year-old is the side's top scorer in the league with seven goals. He led Argentina to victory in the World Youth Cup and was awarded the "golden boy" prize for the best Under-21 player in Europe by Italian sports magazine Tuttosport.
Aguero signed a contract with Atletico until 2012 when he was bought from Independiente for a reported fee of between $25 to 30 million in 2006.
