Saviola sets sights on World Cup (25 Jan 2006 16:48 GMT)
Sevilla striker Javier Saviola, who has yet to hit top form at his new club, sets his sights on being selected for Argentina's 2006 World Cup squad.
In a recent interview conducted by Argentine newspaper "Clarin" he comments on his probability:
"The expectation and chances to go to the World Cup are there. For that I want to finish the Spanish season on a high. And if Jose chooses me, I will try to get in my best possible form, and I will want to play, and will try my best to win a starting eleven position", he said.
"The good thing is that Pekerman knows me like no other coach. Like me and the group, the majority of us have been part of his youth teams. Going to the World Cup is difficult for the players and the manager. It won't be easy to select the players, but Jose is an intelligent man", he added.
